Hi everyone
Just a short note to clarify the position in relation to the treatment in the RL records of 2020.
Following long established precedent all of Toronto’s league games will continue to be included in the career records of both their players, and their opponents’, regardless of what decision is taken in relation to how these are treated in the League table (i.e. even if / when these are stripped out, they will still count in player & club records).
Similarly, the abandonment of the lower league competitions does not prevent these from continuing to be counted, and all matches played by these clubs in league and cup will still be included in season and career stats for the players and clubs concerned.
There are several examples of the above situations happening previously, unfortunately many times in the case of abandoned clubs: most recently York 2002, but amongst others Belle Vue, Streatham & Mitcham, Pontefract and Pontypridd; and most prominently in the case of the 1939/40 league season, which only lasted 2-3 games.
I have added a note to the website on our page about this, making the above explicitly clear, and should also be getting this publicised in the trade press. If you could also share with anyone else who may be interested, that would be appreciated.
If anyone has any further queries here, please give me a shout.
All the best
Neil
